Big News in the Purdue Pharma/Sackler Family Opioid lawsuit. A judge approved the bankruptcy settlement for the Sackler Family and Purdue Pharma. on Sept 1st. This doesn’t mean everything is done, it’s a conditional settlement but there are already numerous states and a branch of the US justice Dept that plan on fighting this ruling. Here are the main details of the settlement.
The big part of the settlement that has many people upset is the protection the Sacklers get from any future civil lawsuits and litigation. They would pay the fines and give up equity in Purdue Pharma, but that’s it, they get off.
